Living Leaving a Legacy - June 16,2013

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7 NKJV I. What is a man’s role? A. Head of the household. (Ephesians 5:22-31). The Biblical model for family structure is not supposed to change with the times. We are called to be a light in a dark world. B. Single/childless men – you’re not out of the woods here. (Titus 2:1-10). Every man has a responsibility towards the generation after them. C. Church leaders. (I Timothy 3:1-13). Testimony must be evident to all. II. Perfecting an imperfect legacy. A. What is our legacy? (I kings 2:1-4 and 5:3-6) If the generation after you were to begin now carrying on your legacy, where would they be headed? What would they be carrying? B. Building a legacy worthy of being carried on. (Joshua 24:14-15) Do we want to leave a legacy of living in the gray? C. Leaving a legacy that leads to our Father. (Deuteronomy 6:1-9) Our greatest legacy is not in how we lead, but Who we follow. III. Qualities of a living legacy. A. Discipline. (Hebrews 12:3-11 + Proverbs 23:13-14) How will our children understand the chastening of the Lord? B. Humility. (I Peter 5:1-11) A very important quality in leadership is knowing how to submit. C. Integrity. (Proverbs 10:9 + 20:7). If what you do does not match what you say, then what you do is what they will take away.
